5 V Fixed Micro-power Low Dropout Linear Voltage Regulator
TI-L500 is a micro-power low dropout linear voltage regulator of XC06 HV technology. The linear regulator has a fixed 5 V output voltage with an input voltage of up to 40 V. The regulator is additionally configured with CR, COMP and SLEEP functions.
CR function is included for an external resistor connection, that allows maximum output current to be limited to 50 uA..10 mA. The linear regulator maintains stable clamping current within the entire temperature and input-output voltage range, thus enabling the microchip to be used in circuits with quiescent current control.
SLEEP function is meant for switching the regulator into a quiescent current limit mode. In this mode all the inner regulator circuits are switched off excluding the voltage VOUT control circuit. On-load power is supplied via charge stored in output capacitor. The output voltage is decreasing until the SLEEP function is off or the voltage VOUT (~2.7 V) control circuit is actuated. Therefore, the SLEEP function is possible to be controlled via an integrated circuit, fed by the linear regulator. This operating mode enables the quiescent current to be as low as a few microamperes.
COMP function is meant for controlling voltage drop VIN to VOUT + 1.7 V. If VIN < VOUT, the regulator switches to the SLEEP mode. In this case, the diode forward potential between «OUT» and «IN» pins is not generated. COMP outlet may be used for receiving data transferred through power supply circuits.
